Gloucestershire County Road Race Series 2008

For the second year running Bourton Roadrunners wiped up the prizes at the Gloucestershire County Road Race Series 2008 Awards.

Bourton's Gloucestershire County Series medal winners

The competition for the overall winner was fierce and it went right to the last race, as defending Champion, Dennis Walmsley, tried to retain the title.  However his team mate and close rival, Alistair Lockey, was strong to the last and became the County RR Champion for the first time.  One time winner, Mike Smith, made the Bourton trio complete in 3rd place.

The Ladies section was a different matter, with Steph Lane achieving an unassailable lead from two thirds of the way through the competition, making her the youngest female to ever win the Series.  Second and third was close, but Ali Lane just managed to snatch runner-up with Brittany Teague in 3rd place.

Naturally, as top man, Alistair Lockey took the 1st Vet 40 award, with Andy Chapple 2nd Vet 40, and Dennis Walmsley1st Vet 45 category.  Tony Goodwill finished 2nd Vet 50, Brian Hulcup 3rd Vet 55, Norm Lane 2nd V60 and Dennis Abbotts 2nd V65.

Caroline Ball finished equal 2nd LV40.  The Vet 45 ladies had a clean sweep with Ali Lane 1st, Shirley Creed 2nd and Gill Carrick 3rd.  Lynn Hudson won the Vet 50 category and Liz Hulcup finished 2nd Vet 55.

The Men and Ladies' teams won by a clear margin.
