BRR JUNIORS - News & Results 2011

Athlete of the Year 2011.
Tuesday 20th December 2011

With so many outstanding Junior Members this year the decision was taken to award a male and female Athlete of the Year who will each share the prestigious Jake Oakey Trophy for six months each. It was a difficult decision with so many members turning up regulary and training hard during our training sessions and also performing well in the Races. The two members we eventually chose were Felicity Darwent and Dillon Williams who have been members of the club for at least two years with Felicity currently 3rd in the U11 girls and Dillon 2nd, at only eight years old in the U11 boys, Gloucestershire Cross Country League. Last season Felicity came 11th and Dillon 29th so big improvements over the previous season and they have both acheived some excellent results in other races throughout the year for the Club. The Trophy was presented by Mary Hunt after the Tinsel Run at Bourton Rovers Football Club.

Glos AAA Cross Country League- Pitville Cheltenham.
Saturday 10th December 2011

The Juniors performed very well at Pitville Park, Cheltenham in the third event of the Gloucestershire Cross Country League with the U11 Girls achieving an excellent 3rd overall with a superb run by Felicity Darwent for 3rd, Lucy Griffin 6th, Beth Boydell 22nd, Isobel Hartley 35th, Isabel Kiey-Thomas 39th and  Emily Williams 43rd. The U11 boys did well 8th overall with another storming run by Dylan Williams 5th and still only eight years old, Max Pinkham 21st and Marcus Kiey-Thomas 54th. Tom Pinkham again ran an excellent race for 9th, with Tom Pudifoot 19th, Josh Grey 32nd and Alex Darwent 46th bringing in the U13 boys in a very respectable 5th overall. There were also very good performances by Rosie Mutsaars 5th and Eva Shoemark 22nd in the U13 girls and the improving Lottie Hartley 14th in the U15 girls..

Gloucestershire Schools County Championships - Plock Court. Gloucester.
Saturday 3rd December 2011..

At the Gloucestershire Schools Cross Country Championships at Plock Court our juniors did extremely well with Beth Wynn 3rd, Rosie Mutsaars 4th, Connor Shoemark 5th, Tom Pinkham 6th in their respective age groups all making it into the Gloucestershire team to take part in the Schools Inter Counties at Cardiff in January. Kieran Shoemark did extremely well for 14th as did Eva Shoemark for 20th.

Gloucestershire Schools District Trials - Cheltenham.
Friday 18th November 2011.

Several of our member who attend the Cotswolds School  did extrmely well at the Schools District County Trials at Cheltenham on the 18th November with Rosie Mutsaars 2nd, Connor Shoemark 3rd, Keiran Shoemark 5th, Tom Pinkham 8th and Eva Shoemark 11th, all making it through to the next round in their respective age groups. There were also fine runs from Sophie Gleghorn 13th, Josh Gray 34th, Charlotte Hartley 60th and Harriet Lees 61st.

Glos AAA Cross Country League- Blackbridge Gloucester.

Against some very strong opposition the juniors did very well in the 2nd event of the Gloucestershire Cross Country Series with the U11 boy’s achieving an excellent 4th place with a strong run from Dylan Williams, still only eight achieving 7th,  Max Pinkham 16th, Charlie Donaldson 38th, Marcus Kiey-Thomas 39th and Alfie Dodridge 44th. The U 11 Girls managed a respectable 8th  overall with Josephine Mutsaars 20th, Beth Boydell 22nd, Isabel Kiey-Thomas 25th, Isobel Hartley 29th, Emily Williams 37th & Ellie Lewis 45th.  Tom Pinkham ran extremely well for 11th  backed up with strong runs from Josh, Gray 29th, Alastair Gleghorn 38th, Alex Darwent 39th and in his first race Alex Barter 51st for an overall finish of 7th in the U13 boys. Rosie Mutsaars also did very well for 10th with the improving Eva Shoemark 29th in the U13 Girls and Lottie Hartley did well in the U15 girls achieving 17th overall.

Ascott Under Wychwood 5K.
Sunday 30th October 2011.

The improving Alistair Gleghorn ran extremely well acheiving 4th in the Ascot Under Wychwood 5k running a mile further than his usual race distance. Well done.

Chocolate Biscuit Race - Plock Court.

Several Bourton Roadrunners Junior’s took part in the annual Chocolate Biscuit Cross Country One Mile Race at Plock Court Gloucester achieving good results with Felicity Darwent 4th, Lottie Hartley 7th, Alex Darwent 8th, Tom Hughes 9th, Isobel Hartley 10th, Ben Darwent 11th, Daniel Bufton 13th and Ellie Lewis 15th.

Glos AAA Cross Country League- Cotswold Farm Park
Saturday 8th October 2011


Bourton Roadrunners Juniors achieved some excellent results at the
Gloucestershire AAA Cross Country League Competition at the Cotswold Farm Park. The Ull Girls consisting of three teams achieved 3rd, 6th and 8th  overall with Felicity Darwent 2nd, Josephine Mutsaars 6th, Beth Boydell 16th, Isobel Hartley 17th, Isabel Kiey-Thomas 24th, Laura Hemming 27th, Emily Williams 30th, Ellie and Emilia Lewis 34th and 35th. The U11 Boys with two teams achieved 3rd and 9th with Dillon Williams 4th, Edward Butler 9th, Max Douglas 23rd, Alfie Dodridge 34th, Jack Lainton 35th, Louis Mutsaars 38th and James Gunn 39th. The U13 Girls did very well with Rosie Mutsaars 6th and Eva Shoemark 24th as did the U15 Girls with Sophie Gleghorn 19th and Lottie Hartley 21st. There were also fine runs by Josh Grey 23rd, Oscar Dodridge 36th, Harry Barton 38th, Alex Darwent 39th and Alstair Gleghorn 44th achieving 9th U13 boys overall.

Plock Courty Cross Country Relays- Saturday 1st October 2011


In very warm conditions at Plock Court, Gloucester, the juniors entered two teams in their first Cross Country Competition of the season. Over a distance of approximately 1 ¾ miles, the girls team of  Eva Shoemark (15.38), Beth Boydell(15.36), Isobel (16.08) & Lottie Hartley (14.42) won a Gold County Medal and the Boys Team of Dillon Williams (12.55), Daniel Bufton (16.35), Tom Pinkham (12.52) & Joe Bonner (15.36) won Silver.

Hook Norton Fun Run - Sunday 14th August 2011


Several Juniors took part in the 1.2 mile Hook Norton Fun Run. Over a hilly course they all ran extremely well with Lottie Hartley 4th, Eva Shoemark 6th, Isobel Hartley 8th and Beth Boydell 11th. Lilly-Anna Walmsley did extremely well as did Bertie Walmsley with a little help from Dad.

Indian Queens Fun Run – Sunday 7th August 2011.

During her holiday Isobel Hartley had an excellent run in the Indian Queens Fun Run over 1 mile in Cornwall coming 12th out of over 50 runners.

Well done to all the Junior members that ran in the Bourton One Mile Challenge. The fun runners started the race one minute behind the main race but this was calculated into the main results. Dillon Williams had another fantastic run finishing 47th overall (1st U11) closely followed by Ben Darwent(58th). Other results Charlotte Hartley 73rd, Sophie Gleghorn 75th, Felicity Darwent 76th, Daniel Bufton 83rd, Isobel Hartley 96th, Beth Boydell 97th, Alistair Gleghorn 98th, Marcus Kiey-Thomas 107th, Emily Williams 109th, Isabel Kiey-Thomas 113th, Ellie Lewis 117th, Amelia Lewis 120th, Annabella Williams 122nd, Celia Darwent 124th, Melanie Darwent 125th, Phoebe Guilliband 132nd and Dorcas Guilleband 132nd. Very well done to all those that took part.

Kingham 1km Fun Run – Sunday 27th June 2011.

Kingham 1km Fun Run 2011

Several members ran extremely well in the Kingham 1km Fun Run through the village. Dillon and Isobel H won the boys and girls year five and under group and Lottie H won the year 6 and over girls group. They were well supported by Isabel, Emily, Ellie and Marcus.

Sherborne Fun Run – Sunday 27th June 2011.

Hosted by Sherborne Primary School and run in the beautiful surroundings of Sherborne Park the 2.4km course began with quite a demanding hilly climb and finished with a long downhill descent back to the school. Several Junior members took part with Peter Marchant running strongly for 1st supported by Tom Pudifoot 3rd. At only 8 years old Lucy Griffin ran superbly for 10th (2nd U11G), Lottie Hartley comfortably 12th (4th U15G), Isobel Hartley running well for 18th (3rd U11G) and finally Ellie Lewis who has only been running for three weeks, a very good 46th (10th U11G). 121 runners took part.

Great Rissington Feyte & Fun Run – Saturday 26th June 2011.

Hosted by Great Rissington Primary School with medals for all and chocolates for the winners, a large number of Bourton Roadrunners competed. There were several age groups with the under 8's running approximately 1/2 a mile, the under 12's 1 mile and the under 15's 1 1/2 miles.

Under 8's - 3rd Annabelle Williams. 4th Toby Phipp & 7th Millie Phipp.

Under 10's - 1st Dylan Williams. 2nd Lucy Griffin. 4th Daniel Bufton. 5th James Gunn. 7th Isabel Kiey-Thomas. 9th Emily Williams. 12th Benjamin Killackey. 14th Ellie Lewis. 16th Archie Sumner. 18th Jack Burroughs & 19th Aidan Hughes.

Under 12's - 1st Felicity Darwent. 3rd Isobel Hartley. 4th Marcus Kiey-Thomas & with a broken wrist 13th Alex Darwent.

Under 15's - 1st Lottie Hartley. 2nd Joe Bonner & 3rd Charlotte Bonner.

Farnborough 2k – Sunday 19th June 2011.

Dylan Williams came 1st U10 and second overall in the Farnborough 2k race in an excellent time of 8 mins 20 seconds.

Blenheim – Sunday 8th May 2011.

Three Junior members ran the Blenheim 1 mile race with a competive field of nearly 200 runners. They all ran extremely well with with Tom Pudifoot 7th, Sophie Gleghorn 18th and Alistair Gleghorn 43rd. CLICK HERE to view results.
