Club Participation in Races - Report of 2nd November

Tewkesbury 5 miles

The County Road Race Series winner was all down to the last race, the Tewkesbury 5M, with last year's champion, Dennis Walmsley, attempting to hold off team mate Alistair Lockey who is in superb form at the moment, achieving personal best after personal best.  Dennis set off fast, hoping to burn off Alistair early, but Alistair's race plan worked and he came through strongly in the final miles to finish in 26:42 and 2nd overall to Mike Cadman from Midland Vets, while Dennis had to settle for 4th place, winning 1st O/40 outside the top 3 in 27:30.  This means that the two Bourton Roadrunners have equal first place in the County Series.

Mike Smith finished 9th overall in a time of 28:14 and 3rd MV40.

Steph Lane notched up another personal best with a time of 29:14 in 3rd place, breaking the magic 30 minutes for the first time, only beaten by Wendy Nicholls who smashed the course record and unattached Claire Holme.  Steph was awarded 1st Junior Lady.

Another PB was achieved by Andy Chapple in 29:32.

A new junior man club record was set when Lewis Gray achieved a personal best with an excellent time of 30:24.

With the half marathon still in his legs from the previous week Tom Jess ran a good race for 31:25, as did Rob Edwards in 32:17.

Other results were: Neil Teague 32:57, Brittany Teague 33:18, Ali Lane 33:30 2nd LV45, Norm Lane 33:46, Nigel Frith 34:40, Rob Humphris 34:41, John Raper 34:42, Brian Hulcup 36:01, Pauline Teague 36:43 3rd LV45, Shirley Creed 38:21, Chris Bence 38:24, Lynn Hudson 38:29, Simon Rutherford 38:42, Bert Jess 39:24, Liz Hulcup 39:29, Caroline Ball 40:29, Robin Macdonald 40:46 and Gill Carrick 40:48.
