Winston's Wish Boxing Day

Just a small number of Bourton Roadrunners were out to burn off their Christmas dinners in the Winston's Wish Boxing Day Races at the Cheltenham Race Course. The event attracted the county's top runners, as well as fun runners eager to help the worthy charity.  From Bourton in the 4m race, Steph Lane was first to cross the line in 3rd lady place 23:27, behind such prestigious runners as Emily Pidgeon and Julia Cooke. Ian Shoemark was next in 25:19, followed by Phil Brush 27:22, Ali Lane 27:33 and Niamh Shoemark 29:04.

In the 2 mile event Kieran Shoemark was an excellent 8th place in 12:18 and Eva Shoemark produced another fine run for 14.08.

Cross Country County Relay Championships

The following weekend was packed with the Cross Country County Relay Championships at Plock Court on Saturday, where Norm Lane turned out some top teams despite the 10 Mile Road Race in Gloucester the next day.

The young ladies team whose ages ranged from 15 to 18, were class, winning the overall ladies' category. Starting off with Steph Lane, who was the fastest lady of the day, passing to Brittany Teague, Beth Wynn and Beth Pudifoot, they held the lead throughout. (Report continues below picture).
