Royal Berkshire Track Marathon - 29th April 2011

What better way to celebrate the royal wedding than to run a marathon in the Royal county of Berkshire. This was the first ever Royal Berkshire Marathon taking place on the athletics track at Greenham & Crookham Common. Just under 106 laps awaited the 50 runners taking part, 2 of whom were Bourton Roadrunner’ Tony Goodwill and Steve Edwards. Both runners showed great mental strength and tenacity to complete the race in very respectable times.

Steve finishing in 3:08:21 for 8th place and Tony in 3:17:51 for 10th place. A pat on the back not only for Steve and Tony, but also for their better halves as they had the very important job of lap counting during the event.

North Dorset Village Marathon - 1st May 2011

The mission to run 500 sub 3:30s continues, so the opportunity to run a 2nd marathon over the bank holiday weekend had to be taken. After the successful track marathon, Bourton Roadrunner’s Steve Edwards competed in the North Dorset Village marathon in Sturminster Newton on Sunday and was pleased with another performance well inside the target time.

Steve ran 3:11:22 to finish in 23rd place out of over 300. Having reached half-way in 1:38, he achieved a massive negative split by 5 minutes.
