Gloucester 20 Miles - 13th March 2011
On Sunday was the task of taking on the longer distance of 20 miles at the Gloucester 20 in excellent conditions.
After a fast start, but lack of concentration between miles 13 and 17 Ewen Smith finished well in 14th position and 3rd Vet 40 in a pleasing p.b. of 2 hours 9 minutes and 21 seconds. Darren Long had a strong run in 34th 2 hours 19 minutes 9 seconds, having recorded his 2nd best half marathon at Bath the previous week (1 hour 26 minutes 54 sececonds).
Tony Goodwill was next in having a solid run in his marathon preperation in 2 hours 25 minutes 14 seconds and 2nd Vet 50.In 85th and also going well for his marathon was Rob Humphries in 2 hours 34 minutes 42 seconds.
Other finishers for Bourton were Nigel Firth 2:38:55, John Gibson 2:45:05,Jan Short in her first 20 miler 2:50:34,Shirley Creed 2:59:54,Susan Hunt 3:03:50, Gill Carrick 3:07:03 and Lynn Hudson 3:14:44.
County Road Race Relay Champs
At the recent county road race relay champs Bourton performed particuarly well picking up plenty of medals. Pick of the day was our junior girls Beth Wynn and Beth Pudifoot who had to run 1 and half legs each, being a member short. They still managed to win the under 20 Gold and their time was also the quickest ladies on the day. Beth Pudifoot picked up 1st junior girl in 20 minutes 6 seconds.
Our junior boys consisting of Connor Shoemark, James Outhwaite, Finn Shoemark and Lewis Grey ran a controlled race to win under 20 Gold.
Our vets Ladies Steph Holton, Ali Lane and Sarah Harper won Silver, with Ali 1st vet 50 and Sarah 2nd vet 40. Last but by no means least our mens vet team of Ed Couzier,Mike Pudifoot,Ewen Smith and Gary Holton stormed home to win the vet 40 gold. Ewen was 1st vet 40.
Duchy Marathon - 13th March
Steve Edwards completed yet another sub-3-15 marathon, in 3 hours 10 minuntes and 48 seconds to finish 16th at the Duchy Marathon in Cornwall. This takes his total marathon count to an amazing 521
Highlights
Ewen Smith nabs another p.b. at the Gloucester 20, in 2:09:21, finishing 3rd V/40.
Tony Goodwill finishes 2nd V/50 in the same race in 2:25:14.
There were a number of fine performances at the recent County Road Race Relay Champs. In particular Gold for our U/20 girls and U/20 boys.
Person Golds for Beth Pudifoot, Ali Lane and Ewen Smith.
