London Marathon - 13 April 2014

Among the elite athletes, celebrities and celebrity look-alikes, 11 Bourton Roadrunners travelled to the capital on 13 April to take part in the 33rd London Marathon.

On a crisp spring morning with clear blue skies, conditions were ideal at the start if a little warm as the day wore on.

Darren Long was first home for the Club. Seeking his second sub 3-hour run in consecutive years, he strayed from his pace in the middle of the race and had to pull out everything in the last few miles and made his target with 2 seconds to spare in 2:59:57.

Next quickest was Steve Edwards who ran his 631st marathon in 3:09:44.

Running for the Beating Bowel Cancer charity on the birthday of his father who died of the disease, Mike Hobbs was disappointed with his 3:35:52 but pleased to have raised more than £2,000 for the charity.

Other Bourton Roadrunners: Claire Harrison 3:36:55; John Gibson 3:37:48; Ian Shoemark 3:38:32; Steph Holton 3:41:20 (PB); Niamh Shoemark 3:41:20; Chris Dry 3:52:47 (PB); Zoe Sellek 4:27:56; Liz Hulcup 4:52:42.
