Welcome to Bourton Roadrunners Website

Angels 10k - 27 April 2014

Bourton Roadrunners were in seventh heaven at the Angels 10k in Ashleworth, where they won a host of prizes. Dennis Walmsley was 4th overall on the challenging technical course. His time of 35:57 means he continues to rise upwards in the British V50 rankings to 15th place.

Shona Crombie-Hicks was also in high spirits after scooping the first lady prize in 38:07. Ewen Smith flew around the course for 2nd MV45 with 38:24. Darren Long soared over the hills to finish in 39:21.

Further star performances came from Tony Goodwill 43:13 (1st MV55), John Gibson 44:28 (1st MV60), Brian Hulcup 46:27 (2nd MV60), Chris Dry 47:11, Jan Short 50:35 (1st LV55), Liz Hulcup 51:42 (3rd LV60) and Lynn Hudson 54:21 (3rd LV55).

Shakepeare Half Marathon and Marathon - 27 April 2014

Meanwhile, another troop of Roadrunners battled with the Bard at the Shakepeare Rotary Half Marathon and Marathon.

In the Half Marathon, Maxine Emes finished in 1:52:38 and Ed Rozier in 2:05:01.

In the Marathon, David Turnbull paced his first marathon perfectly to finish in 3:56:53.

Claire Harrison (just 2 weeks after running the London Marathon) had been tasked with helping Susan Hunt achieve her dream of a sub-4-hour marathon. She paced Susan perfectly, sheltered her from the wind, carried her sticky drinks and provided friendly banter and endless encouragement. Unfortunately, it was not in Claire’s power to prevent Susan’s body from going into meltdown at mile 25, and they crossed the line in 4:02:28 (next time, maybe a piggy back for the last mile, Claire?).

Julia Kelly finished in 4:20:18.

Highworth 5 - 27 April 2014

Ian and Niamh Shoemark headed to the Highworth 5 mile race, where they clocked up times of 32:12 and 34:59 respectively.

NB The most surprising result of the weekend was that Steve Edwards didn’t do a marathon :0
