Blaisdon 10k – 26 July 2016

Mike Smith was very happy to be back in the Race Winner position for the Blaisdon 10k, the picturesque but hilly County qualifying race in the Forest of Dean. The race was led to half way of the out and back course by the host Club’s Jack Fleet, at which point Mike headed to the front and pushed on to open up almost a minute on 2nd place for a time of 36:43.

The ladies then gave a good show, with Steph Lane putting in a strong performance to take 2nd place in 42:20, closely followed by Kate Krzywiec 42:35 in 3rd. Rowena Verity again ran superbly for 1st Vet 50 in 46:11 and Ali Lane, 1st Vet 55 in 47:04 made up the 1st ladies team.

Susan Hunt, getting fitter and faster by the week was just behind in 47:18 and a hair’s-breath again, Margaret Hollamby showed true class for 1st Vet 60 in 47:32.

Graham Lane looked comfortable for 49:27 and Dave Turnbull showed a tremendous turn of speed at the finish for 50:49. Gill Carrick and Lynn Hudson had solid runs for 52:24 and 58:18.

Hooky 6m – 7 August 2016

The Hooky 6 mile race wasn’t part of the Bourton Roadrunners’ Club Series this year, but it's such a good race it still attracted a few good runners from Bourton:
Darren Long lead the team home in 39:01, Robin Goodwill is getting better and better with 40:19, evergreen Andy Peaston is still up there with a time of 42:21. Consistently good performances came from Andrew Evans 44:12, Susan Hunt 46:19, Dave Turnbull 50:17 and Steph Holton 51:21.

Bugatti 10k – 10 August 2016

Back to the County Series with the Bugatti 10K and not just one hill climb, but many! Chris Krzywiec this time gave Mike Smith some in-house competition and after a constant battle throughout, had the final push to finish 4th in 36:40 and Mike 5th in 36:51 and 1st MV40.

Robin Goodwill, in his 2nd race of the week, steamed in with a time of 41:52, chased by Steph Lane and Kate Krzywiec, 2nd and 3rd again in 42:08 and 43:35, and, again making up first ladies’ team, Rowena Verity 1st LV50 in 46:31.

Nigel Frith as always kept up a good pace for 44:29, Susan Hunt had a great run for 47:58, Ali Lane just managed to snatch 1st LV55 in 48:41, Graham Lane, not far behind, 49:56, Dave Turnbull always strong at the finish 51:03, Gill Carrick only 2 seconds different from Blaisdon in 54:22 and Lynn Hudson consistent in 59:14.
