Welcome to Bourton Roadrunners Website

Tewkesbury Guy Fawkes 5M – 6 November 2016

The Guy Fawkes 5M Race hosted by Tewkesbury AC is always an important race as it is the last race of the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race Series, in which overall places can be won or lost. With limited places for this popular race taken in a very short time, the number of Bourton Roadrunners were restricted to probably only half of those from the Club who would like to have taken part, but those present made it count.

Mike Smith, first in for the Club and 2nd Vet 45 on the day in 29:53, promoted himself to 1st MV45 for the Series, followed in by Darren Long with an excellent run, just 1 minute slower, in 30:53. Robin Goodwill achieved yet another personal best time, knocking well over a minute off his previous time to record 31:18.

The ladies then took over, with Steph Lane finishing 4th lady overall in 32:29, making her 2nd place overall in the County Series. Rowena Verity, already safe for 1st LV50 in the County, finished 2nd LV50 on the day in 35:24. Ali Lane finished 1st LV55 in 36:08 and also the Series. Susan Hunt, 3rd LV50 on the day in 36:31 secured her 2nd LV50 place in the Series.

Chris Lomax and Brian Hulcup raced each other round for 38:05 and 38:13. Dave Turnbull flashed over the line with his usual turn of speed to record 39:47 and retain his 2nd position in the County.

Gill Carrick pushed on for 41:27, 2nd LV55 in the race and 3rd in the Series. Liz Hulcup, making a comeback after taking time off during the summer ran 43:39 with Margaret Hollamby, not feeling her best but securing her County LV60 win with 43:46 and Lynn Hudson giving a solid performance for her 3rd LV60 County position in 46:00.
