Cotswold Hilly 100 mile road relay – 12th May 2019
The Cotswold Hilly 100 mile 10-stage relay road race, started and finished in Stratford-upon-Avon, having ‘meandered’ through the Cotswolds, with total climbs of almost 3800 feet, passing through many well know picturesque villages and historic towns.
Bourton's team was a mix new young runners and seasoned older legs, who wanted to keep the club’s presence in this challenging charity event that has been held for over 25 years. Whilst the club was not amongst the prize winners this year, every team member provided their all.
Congratulations to all of our runners - Lottie Hartley (1:12), Tom Hill (1:36), Gill Carrick (1:38), Niamh Shoemark (1:16), Michela Sartori (1:26), Martin Cook (1:15), Steph Holton (1:25), Nick Hawke (1:15), Margaret Hollamby (1:23), Graham Lane (1:36) and their support team who covered the entire course.
Oxford Town & Gown 10k – 12th May 2019
Four and half thousand runners enjoyed the sun-shine at this ever-popular event. Bourton’s Nick Harper was the first club member to finish, in a time of 51:42, just two weeks after his brilliant run in the London Marathon. Tom Hill was next home, having already raced earlier the same day in the Hilly 100 relay, achieving a very respectable 60:33. Just 9 seconds behind was Alison Quinn (60:42 – PB). Jeanette Brew and Coral Feenan-Hill were running their first ever 10k, achieving 79:05 and 83:38 respectively.
Berkeley 10k – 13th May 2019
On a sunny Monday evening 386 took to the lanes around Berkeley for Dursley Running Club’s annual 10k; the 4th event in this year’s Gloucestershire AAA road race series. In a highly competitive field the first Bourton runner to finish was Darren Long, who was 3rd in the MV45 category in a respectable 37:19. Next was Niamh Shoemark, 3rd LV50 and 5th lady overall, in a time of 41:54. Niamh had run the previous day at the Hilly 100 relay race.
Other club members taking part were John Gibson (47:19), Susan Hunt (48:12), David Turnbull (50:05), Liz Hulcup (51:14) and Gill Carrick (52:41).
Highlights
Bourton Roadrunners entered a co-ed team of 10 runners for this year’s Cotswold Hilly 100 mile road relay race. Everyone ran to the full potential.
Jeanette Brew and Coral Feenan-Hill ran their first 10k at the Oxford Town & Gown. Alison Quinn gained a PB in 60:42, while Tom Hill ran his second race of the day, having run in the Hilly 100 in that morning.
Darren Long was 3rd in the MV45 category at Berkeley 10k, in 37:19.
Niamh Shoemark was 3rd LV50 and 5th lady overall at Berkeley, in a time of 41:54. Niamh had run the previous day at the Cotswold Hilly 100 relay race.
