Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire -

Draycote Water 10k – 13th October 2019

In-form Darren Long ran his final race before representing England at the York Marathon next weekend. In fairly inclement weather he finished 3rd overall and was rewarded for all his hard work with a PB of 36:57.

Chicago Marathon – 13th October 2019

Steph and Gary Holton travelled west to run at Chicago Marathon, one of the marathon majors. Despite a 5.30am baggage check in, it worked well with jet-lag. Steph finished in 3:51:19, bettering her time at London Marathon this year, while Gary, after only a few weeks of gentle training due to an ongoing injury, was really pleased to complete the course in 5:21:17.

Club trip to Sofia, Bulgaria – 13th October 2019

The annual overseas club trip is part of the club’s tradition. With a full marathon, a half marathon and 10k there was good choice of events.

Trip organiser Mike Smith opted for the half in his first race after a long-term injury finishing in a respectable 1:28:08. Susan Hunt and Margaret Hollamby were neck-and-neck, both having a great run, finishing in 1:50:02 (49th) and 1:50:41 (50th) respectively. Also in the half were Graham Lane (1:54:06) and Linda Edwards (2:00:30).

Neil Russell opted for the full marathon and achieved a respectable time of 4:30:00.

Meanwhile, five of the group opted for the 10k, thereby allowing them more time to enjoy the city, these were: Claire Carroll (1:07:05); Lynn Hudson, Gillian James, Shirley Creed (1:07:31); and Nicola Patterson (1:21:36).

Gloucestershire Cross-Country, Wotton-under-Edge – 13th October 2019

Only the hardy are prepared to take-on the challenge of cross-country and whilst Bourton was well-outnumbered, Martin Cook, Lee Campbell, Emily Field, Diana Dee, Jennifer Glass, Gill Carrick and Isabel Barnett were all up for that challenge, battling through ditches and muddy water, and did themselves and their club proud, in very difficult running conditions.

Grittleton 10k – 13th October 2019

On a very wet morning, Bourton Roadrunner Janet Bilinski ran her first 10k. She was very pleased with herself to finish in 1:02:36.

Great Birmingham Run – 13th October 2019

Due to heavy rain and flooding the course had to be changed. It was actually 2 miles short. Roadrunners David and Sharon Rees finished very damp in 1:52:36 and 1:52:37 respectively.
