Linda Franks 5m - 20th January 2019
Sunday saw the 25th anniversary of this ever-popular event; the Linda Franks 5 mile road race. This was also the first race in the Gloucestershire road race series. 5 Bourton Roadrunners took on the challenge on a sharp, yet dry, morning and were pleased with the results.
In-form Darren Long was the first roadrunner to finish with a new PB of 29:46 and 14th position in a field of 241 finishers. Darren was also 1st MV45 in the County series.
Martin Cook, continuing his fine form was pleased with his time of 32:01 and finishing 42nd. Close behind, Niamh Shoemark had a finishing time of 33:18 and was 2nd in the LV45 age category (1st LV50 in the County series).
Returning to racing after a long break were John Gibson and Gill Carrick. John had a fine run in 36:36 (1st MV65 in County series) and Gill, returning after a long injury, was really please with her time of 41:34.
Winter Tempo 10k - 20th January 2019
On an undulating course, the 4th race of 5 in the Winter Tempo 10k series took place on Sunday at Ilmington.
Bourton Roadrunners were represented by Susan Hunt completing the course in 53:26 and Tom Hill in 55:12, finishing 140th and 155th respectively from a field of 308 runners. The conditions were good and both thoroughly enjoyed it and they went home with a finishing prize of a pack of sausages!

Darren Long achieved a new PB at Linda Franks 5m and achieved maximum points for this year’s County series in this first event.
Susan Hunt and Tom Hill took-on the challenging Winter Tempo 10k.
