Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire -

Gloucestershire AAA Cross-Country League, Pittville Park – 16th Feruary 2020

With many races having been cancelled over the last two weeks due to adverse weather conditions, Gloucestershire AAA excelled in being able to go ahead with the 3rd scheduled cross-country league event of the series at Pittville Park. Despite the rain and cold wind, with minor course amendments, a safe and well-supported race was provided across all categories.

As usual it was among the junior categories that Bourton enjoyed its main successes, with Dee twins Kiya and Taya runaway first and second places in the U15 girls race; Jake Astor 2nd MU17; and success for the BU11 and BU13 teams – 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In the ladies’ main event Bourton's Emily Field (LU20) was first to complete the 6.4k course in 32:23 and 27th overall. Diana Dee completed the challenging course in 34:47 and 1st LV50 with Jennifer Glass in hot-pursuit 2nd LV50 in 35:30.

Castle Coombe Chilly 10k – 16th Feruary 2020

In the midst of Storm Dennis the Castle Coombe Chilly 10k was able to go ahead at the motor racing circuit, five miles from Chippenham.

Linda Edwards, Bourton Roadrunners’ 2nd-claim member, completed a 3.4-lap course of the race circuit among 500+ other runners. She finished in a very respectable 51:50 to claim 3rd ‘supervet lady’ and was a part in the winning ladies team, another first for her.

Highlights

Bourton’s Juniors out-numbered the seniors at the Gloucestershire Cross-Country league, Pittville Park, Cheltenham.

Dee twins Kiya and Taya were runaway first and second places in the U15 girls race, Jake Astor was 2nd MU17 and Emily Field (LU20) was 27th overall in the main ladies’ race.

There were fine performances from Diana “DEE” Dee and Jennifer Glass, who were 1st and 2nd respectively in the LV50 category.
