Pride Run 10k - Saturday 18th September 2021
This race was held in Victoria Park, London and was a fast, flat course. Andre Martins and Barry O’Leary ran for the Micro Rainbow team, which help homeless LGBTI refugees with safe housing. Andre finished in 51:50 and Barry in 58:02.
Angels 10k - Sunday 19th September 2021
Starting and finishing at the Woodpeckers Cricket Club in Ashleworth village, Gloucester, providing an undulating course that enjoys views of the Cotswolds, the Malvern Hills and the River Severn.
This was a Gloucestershire County Championship race, with Bourton Roadrunners Club having three representatives, all winning County silver medals.
First home for the club was Darren Long in 39:32, 6th overall and MV45/2. He was followed by Maxime Emes 47:24, LV35/2 and Gill Carrick 54:23, LV60/2.
Warwickshire Bear Ultra - Sunday 19th September 2021
This was a 40 mile race that started in Rugby and finished at Royal Leamington Spa. It was a wet start at 8am along a muddy and uneven canal towpath.
Bourton’s representative was Lorna Shawcross, who hit a bad patch at mile 23, and after being fed with biscuits, crisps and tea by the marshals she continued and finished in 7 hours 56:32, winning her age group LV/55.
Firkin 5 miles - Sunday 19th September 2021
Bourton Roadrunners had two runners in this multi terrain race; Janice Townsend and Jeanette Brew, which started and finished at Hook Norton Brewery. At half way there was even a beer/water station. Janice finished in 59:15 and Jeanette in 60:06, just pipped at the finishing line.
