Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire -

Evesham Parkrun – 12th February 2022

In addition to Bourton Roadrunners’ long-standing tradition of supporting as many local running events as possible, it has been a keen ambassador for the parkrun movement and its world-wide appeal. As running and other events start to open up further the club has continued to demonstrated its support of parkrun by selecting one of the several local events each month, promoting its social and wellbeing values.

February’s event was the well organised Evesham parkrun, which attracted 15 club members, with Alex Pye leading the team home in 20:24. Derek Darby was 1st MV45 in 21:07, achieving a course PB, with Tim Hemming finishing 1st MV50 in 21:42. Tom Hill also achieved a course PB of 24:10, while Margaret Hollamby finished 1st LV65 in a fine 24:36. Lorna Shawcross was 1st LV60 in 25:15, narrowly pipping Barry O’Leary in 25:16. Liz Hulcup, who is training for Cardiff half marathon next month, achieved 25:45.

There was further friendly club rivalry between John Harding (1st MV65) and Chris Dry, finishing in 26:05 and 26:06 respectively; well done to both. Other Bourton Roadrunners were Gill Carrick (27:47), David Rees (27:48), Sharon Rees (32:05), Lynn Hudson (34:22) and Coral Feeney-Hill (35:25 – course PB).

Individual performances included Michael Astor - 4th MU13, Edward Hare - 5th MU11, and another brilliant performance by Lucy Hillary - 4th LU13.

Highlights

The February social parkrun attracted 15 club members to Evesham. There were a number of PBs, age category highlights and a lot of good fun in general.

Well to Jenni Glass and the Juniors who braved the weather and attended the Gloucestershire Cross Country League at Pittville Park.

Another fine run for Jaq Underwood at the Cardiff Winter Warmer 10k.
