Linda Franks 5 mile - Sunday 23rd January 2022

The Linda Franks’ memorial race, which is usually the first event of the Gloucestershire Road Race Series, is always very popular and reaches its entry limit quickly. 11 Roadrunners competed in this five mile road race, with Darren Long leading the club home in his first race since London Marathon, due to injury, in a time of 30:55. Very close on his heels was ever-improving Pete Carrick in 31:01. First Bourton lady was Maxine Emes in 35:25.

Ian Tolfts has started 2022 where he left off last year, knocking over a minute from his PB, in 36:43. Other Bourton members were Liz Hulcup (1st LV65) 39:28, Barry O’Leary 40:27, Gill Carrick 42:17, Claire Carroll 43:08, Noelle Morgan 43:58, Annie Oliver 44:48 and Allie Quinn, back from a long-term injury, in 51:51.

Ilmington Tempo Winter 10k Series - Sunday 23rd January 2022

This race was event number 4 of the 5 race series, which alternates between a clockwise/anticlockwise course, thankfully descending Larkstoke Hill this time. Lorna Shawcross, a club regular participant of the series, completed the race in a fine 55:00, finishing 3rd LV55. Sharon Rees, another regular at this challenging event, achieved 69.49; no mean feat.

As usual, all finishers received a pack of Cumberland sausages. There were 268 finishers, so a lot of sausages!
