Massey Ferguson Tractor 10k - 18th April 2022
This was a fast, flat & traffic free 3-lap 10k course at the National Agricultural & Exhibition Centre, Stoneleigh, Warwickshire and was the first race in the Warwickshire Road Race League. Susan Hunt, one of Bourton’s 2nd claim members finished in 51:37.
Cotswold Spring Sportive - 18th April 2022
Bourton Roadrunners’ Michela Satori and Graham Lane took on a different challenge, cycling 160km. As well as their chosen distance, there was also a 55km and 100km route. It was a well signposted route, with great views and elevation of 7,000ft.
The well organised Sportive also offered hot food at the end. It proved to be a popular event with about 1,000 riders taking part. Michela and Graham completed the course in 8 hours 31 minutes 57 seconds.
Shakespeare Half and Full Marathon 24th April 2022
Over the years this event, which celebrates the birth of William Shakespeare, has attracted many Bourton Roadrunners. With Stratford-upon-Avon being the appropriate setting for the 2 races. Both the full and half marathons started in the town centre, passing historic buildings before heading out to Luddington and Welford-on-Avon.
In the half marathon Francesca Copley finished in 1:44:16 and in the full marathon ultra distance runner Neil Russell finished in 4:25:13.
Corsham 2k - 24th April 2022
Bourton sole representative was Lucy Hillary. Improving all the time, Lucy completed the course in 6:45.5 a PB by nearly 30 seconds. Lucy was the overall female winner and 1st U13 girl.
Parkrun Events - Saturday 23rd April 2022
Finally, we had our usual presence at a number of parkrun events:
Cheltenham: Chris Dry - 28:29.
Chipping Norton: Matt Price - 30:08.
Cirencester: Tom Knight - 27:44, 2nd MV65 and course PB, Liz Hulcup - 27:59, 1st LV65, Gill Carrick - 28:42, 1st LV60
Newport: Jaq Underwood (2nd claim) - 26:14, 1st LV55.
Stratford-upon-Avon: Susan Hunt (2nd claim) - 24:28, 2nd LV55.
Highlights
Susan Hunt took on the Massey Furguson Tractor 10k, acquiring one its bespoke medals.
Graham and Michela gave the Cotswold Spring Sportive cycle event a shot; all 160k of it!
Neil and Francesca represented the club at the Shakespeare Marathon and Half.
Lucy Hillary excels at the Corsham 2k.
