Loch Rannoch Marathon - 13th October 2024

As one of Bourton Roadrunners’ best travelled and prolific racers, Susan Hunt found herself at the picturesque village of Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire, in the Scottish Highlands this weekend, which was hosting the Loch Rannoch Marathon.

Despite having to work hard to achieve four hours, 15 minutes and 7 seconds, she was rewarded with finishing first woman in the Women’s Vet-55 category, in addition to enjoying the stunning views of the loch and the surrounding countryside.

Lightning Bolt 10K, Chippenham - 13th October 2024

Closer to home, four club members took part in the Lightning Bolt 10K at Chippenham. Darren Long had a strong run over the 10Km course, finishing well up a highly competitive field, in a time of 38 minutes and 35 seconds. His partner Maxine Emes, a seasoned racer, also ran well, finishing second within the Women's Vet 40-category, in 45 minutes and 37 seconds.

Lisa Braid never gave up the chase, keeping Maxine in sight, also had a brilliant race earning herself a new PB of 46:27 and third within the same age category. Lee Smith continues to improve with every event as she further develops here approach to racing, achieved a strong 57:57.

Leicester 10K - 13th October 2024

Iain and Claire Cox ventured to Leicestershire for the Leicester 10K, where Claire had the edge over her husband, finishing in a strong 45 minutes and 39 seconds and fourth in the WV40 category, while Iain recorded a very respectable 47:28 and was sixth in the competitive MV60 category.

Gloucestershire AAA Cross-Country League, Yate - 12th October 2024

The previous day, nine of the club’s junior members travelled to Yate in South Gloucestershire for the first round of this season’s Gloucestershire AAA Cross Country League competition.

All gave exceptional performances, with five running in the under-15 race over a challenging 4.5Km course. Liam Kay was just a short-head in front of Edward Hare, finishing fourth and fifth respectively in the MU15 category, while Thomas Harvey was seventh just 19 seconds behind. Noah Alyn-Jones and Oliver Tindal-Robertson also worked hard throughout finishing fifteenth and seventeen respectively in the same category.

Meanwhile, in the under-13 race, Will Harvey had a strong run to finish ninth just ahead of Joshua Thomas in seventeenth place. Grace Kay was fifteenth LU13 and William Bell fourth MU11 in the same race, over 3Km.

Parkruns - 12th October 2024

The club still found time to get out and about in support of parkrun, with special mention of Alex Pye achieving a brilliant 18:01. Memebrs could found with appearances at the following locations:

Chipping Norton School: Jenny Evanson - 35:09 (VW55/3).
Forfar Loch, Nr. Dundee: Susan Hunt - 28:23 (VW55/1).
Gunnersbury: Megan Ratcliffe - 27:58.
King George V Playing Field, Cheltenham: Chris Dry - 29:10 (VM60/2).
Stratford-upon-Avon: Alex Pye - 18:01 Course PB (VM35/1 and 4th overall). George Swayne - 19:17 (SM18/1).
Witney: Steph Holton - 25:17 Course PB (VW60/1), Lee Hutton - 26:14 (VM65/1), Gary Holton - 31:30, Clare Williams - 38:42 (VW65/3), Cleo Carruthers - 40:41(VW75/1).
