Cardiff to Badsey Charity Cycle - 21st July 2024
This weekend Bourton Roadrunners’ Coral and Tom Hill joined a group of local cyclists aiming to raise £3000 by cycling between Cardiff and Badsey, near Evesham, in support of Noah’s Ark, Hope for Tomorrow and Claus for Cause.
The couple were rewarded with good weather in support along the challenging 110 mile route, before arriving at Badsey Community Sports & Social Club for well-earned refreshments and recovery.
Wild One Trail Marathon - 21st July 2024
Bourton’s Claire Carroll and a friend from Almost Athletes, Coralie Pearson, were also looking to pound the miles at the Wild One Trail Marathon, comprising 10-laps of 2.6 miles.
Despite being a flat course, the warm muggy conditions made the run quite challenging; however, the intrepid pair dug-deep and completed the 26.2 miles in five hours, 56 minutes and 58 seconds.
Blaisdon 10K - 16th July 2024
Midweek saw the seventh event in this year’s Gloucestershire AAA Road Race series, where veteran Darren Long took-on the undulating Blaisdon 10Km, in the Forest of Dean. Darren was rewarded with 3rd Male-Vet 50 in a time of 40 minutes and 22 seconds, maintaining his age-category lead in the competition.
Also running was second-claim member Linda Edwards who had a strong run finishing in 61:56.
Wychwood 5Km Trail Run - 21st July 2024
Jenny Evanson took part in the inaugural Wychwood 5Km trail run, organised by Milton under Wychwood Life Centre and supported by NCTR. Jenny commented that it was an “Absolutely beautiful route, skirting fields of ripening corn and barley then through the 1000 Tree Wood to the Secret Wild Garden”.
It is understood that a few runners took a diversion because they followed direction from a scarecrow waving a flag, rather than the marshals, which added to the fun! Jenny completed the course in 39 minutes, but this event was about more than times.
Parkrun events - 20th July 2024
As usual, Bourton Roadrunners were out in support of parkrun at the following venues:
Banbury: Liz Hulcup – 28:12, Claire Carroll – 28:15.
Chippenham: Susan Hunt – 26:36, Linda Edwards – 30:53. Susan and Linda
