British Transplant Games - 1st - 4th August 2024

Whilst many sporting eyes have been focused on the Olympic Games in Paris, Bourton Roadrunners’ Lee Hutton has again been participating in the Transplant Games, which this year has been taking place in Nottingham. Once the official results have been published we will be celebrating Lee’s remarkable achievements with you.

Hooky 6 - 4th August 2024

This weekend the pretty Cotswold village of Hook Norton in Oxfordshire hosted its annual road race, the Hooky Six, organised by Hook Norton Harriers. Taking on the two-lap undulating rural course were two Bourton Roadrunners’ members for whom this event is always written firmly into their diaries.

Ever-consistent Andy Peaston managed to achieve 47 minutes and 15 seconds - the same chip time as last year. Meanwhile, Susan Hunt was second in the Women Vet 55 category in a time of 49 minutes and 12 seconds.

Parkrun events - 10th August 2024

For the month of August, Bourton Roadrunners has incorporated parkrun within the club’s own race competition series, with members’ best performance being used to determine the points awarded. This week saw members enjoying themselves at the following venues:
Arrow Valley: Lorna Shawcross - 26:42 (VW60/2), Sharon Rees - 33:54.
Bognor Regis: Imogen Cox - 32:56.
Bryn Bach: Jaq Underwood - 25:02 (VW55/1).
Cheltenham Pittville Park: John Harding - 25:30 (VM65/1), Chris Dry - 29:24.
Chipping Norton School: Edward Hare - 19:06 (1st Overall and JM11/1), Lee Smith - 30:03 (VW50/2), David Turnbull - 30:24 (VM75/1), Jenny Evanson - 36:09 (VW55/1).
Cirencester: Liz Hulcup - 27:36 (VW70/1).
Fleetwood Promenade: Tim Hemming - 20:57 (VM55/2 and Course PB).
King George V Playing Field: Claire L Cox - 24:19 (VW45/1), Iain Cox - 24:37 (VM60/1).
Southsea: Claire Louise Carroll - 28:04 (VW60/2 and Course PB).
Stratford-upon-Avon: Derek Darby - 20:15 (VM50/2), Stephanie Holton - 24:01 (VW60/1), Gary Holton - 33:50.
Thames Path, Woolwich: Susan Hunt - 25:10 (VW55/1).
