Gloucestershire AAA County Awards evening - 10th January 2025
This week saw the Gloucestershire AAA County Awards evening, held at the Civic Suite in Gloucester. Two members from Bourton Roadrunners were honoured for their performances in the 2024 Gloucestershire County Road Race Series, with Darren Long winning the gold medal in the Male Vet 50 category, while Liz Hulcup won silver in the Female Vet 70 category.
Riverbank Rollick 9.6 miles - 12th January 2025
Bourton’s Jaq Underwood started her 2025 season this weekend with a multi-terrain event, hosted by Thornbury Running Club. The worryingly titled Riverbank Rollick was held over trails, bridle paths, fields, woodlands, through a stream and along a riverbank! This 9.6 mile challenge was certainly not for the faint-hearted, but Jaq completed the race in a very respectable time of one hour, 56 minutes and 53 seconds.
Parkrun - 11th January 2025
Despite parkrun not being a race, and several events not taking place this weekend due to poor weather conditions, two Bourton Roadrunners took
their positive attitude to Cirencester parkrun, where they both achieved new personal best times. Kevin Goodwill finished first man over 35, and fifth overall,
in a time of 19:50, while Rebecca Townsend was second woman overall in a time of 21:55. As usual, club members were noted at the following parkrun events
this weekend:
Chipping Norton School: Helena Dobbs - 26:15 (SW20/2), Matt Price - 27:51(VM35/2), Jenny Evanson - 37:14.
Cirencester: Kevin Goodwill - 19:50 (VM35/1 and 5th overall), Rebecca Townsend - 21:55 (SW20/1, 2nd woman overall and PB), Tony Goodwill – 26:26,
Louise Hamilton-Smith - 30:03 (course PB), John Gibson - 30:16 (VM70/3), Lee Smith - 30:17, Linda Edwards - 35:59, Liz Hulcup - 35:59 (VW70/2).
King George V Playing Field, Cheltenham: Chris Dry 28:58 (VM60/2).
Leamington: Susan Hunt - 27:57.
Trelai Park, Cardiff: Jaq Underwood - 26:51 (VW55/2).
University Parks, Oxford: Gary Holton - 31:01.
