Sharpness 4 - 12th October 2025
As the Gloucestershire County Road Race Series fast approaches its conclusion, five Bourton Roadrunners travelled to Sharpness in the Stroud district of Gloucestershire for the Sharpness 4 mile event this weekend. The deceptively undulating course, taking in the Sharpness docks, attracted some of the best runners from around the county seeking valuable competition points.
In-form Steph Lane led the Bourton team home, finishing second woman and first in the LV35 category in a fine time of 24 minutes and 13 seconds. Next was Kevin Goodwill in 25:53, while Rebecca Townsend claimed second in the Senior Lady category in a swift 27:24. Liz Hulcup won the LV70 category in 33:47 and claiming a rare finish ahead of club-mate Tony Goodwill in 34:39.
Oxford Half Marathon - 12th October 2025
On the same day Pippa Marsden and Kieran Vallance took on the challenges of the Oxford Half Marathon, where Pippa was running to say a special thank you to the staff of Oxford Hospital, who had saved the life of her young son last year. Her hard work was rewarded with a finishing time of one hour, 53 minutes and 29 seconds. Kieran, who was running in his first half marathon, was delighted with 2:05:24 for the 13.1 mile distance and comfortably inside the 2:15 target that he had set himself.
Loch Rannoch Half Marathon - 12th October 2025
Further afield, Susan Hunt had travelled to the picturesque village of Kinloch Rannoch in the Scottish Highlands. Having taken part in their full marathon last year, Susan fancied the Loch Rannoch Half this year, with the opportunity of taking in the views from the south side of the Loch. Susan finished in one hour, 56 minutes and 3 seconds with the additional reward of being second in the LV60 category.
Gloucestershire Cross Country - 12th October 2025
Rounding off a busy Sunday, Peter Carrick was the club’s sole adult participant to make the journey to Tinkley Gate, near Nympsfield, for the first fixture in this season’s Gloucestershire Cross Country league. Whilst Peter put in a strong performance and enjoyed the experience, he was out-gunned by the sheer number of talented runners from the University of Bath, and is already looking forward to second race at Cirencester in November for a re-match.
