Newport Marathon & 10k - 13th April 2025
After weeks or tireless preparation, second-claim member Kevin Goodwill was certainly ready for this year’s Newport Marathon. One of the difficulties faced by marathon runners is setting off too fast or running inconsistent splits. Kevin clearly took this into account and was rewarded with a time of three hours, nine minutes and 24 seconds, inside his target of 3:10 and earning a new PB.
His father Tony, a veteran of the marathon, opted for the Newport 10k, which he completed in a respectable time of 56 minutes and 7 seconds; with plenty of time to see son Kevin finish.
Boston Lincolshire Marathon - 13th April 2025
Whilst Bourton’s Maxine Emes is no stranger to long-distance swimming, this weekend she took on her first full marathon at the Boston Marathon, Lincolnshire, where she achieved a brilliant time of three hours, 38 minutes and 52 seconds.
Bigmoose 10K - 13th April 2025
On the same day Jaq Underwood took part in this year’s Bigmoose 10K; an event held at Cardiff’s Bute Park in support of a mental health charity. Jaq joined a field of 1600 runners, achieving a very respectable time of 45 minutes and 6 seconds. In addition to the 10k race, there were four other distances offered with a total of nearly 4000 participants.
Parkrun - 12th April 2025
While a large contingent of club members of all abilities were away for a training weekend at Bridgend, several other members were out in support of
parkrun as usual, including the following venues:
Ayr, Near Glasglow: Danny Hannig - 19:24 (1st overall).
Danehy Park, Massachusetts, USA: Susan Hunt - 27:02 (VW60/2 and 3rd female overall).
Evesham: Ian Tolfts - 23:51, Megan Ratcliffe - 25:07 (VW55/1), Louise Hamilton-Smith - 25:17 (VW45/1 and course PB), John Harding -25:24 (VM65/2 and course PB),
Liz Hulcup - 26:21 (VW70/1), Alex Wilson - 27:45, Jenny Evanson - 35:00.
King George V Playing Field, Cheltenham: Chris Dry - 27:36 (VM60/1).
Porthcawl, South Wales: Allie Quinn - 30:25, Claire Louise Carroll - 54:13.
