Media City Half Marathon - 16th February 2025
On a bitterly cold morning, four Bourton Roadrunners travelled to Manchester for the Media City Half Marathon, centred at Salford Quays, and taking in views of Old Trafford football stadium, the Lowry gallery, BBC studios and the set of Coronation Street on route. The Bourton contingent described it as “flat, fast, full and freezing”.
Claire Carroll was first of the Bourton contingent to complete the 13.1 mile course, in a time of two hours, four minutes and 18 seconds, finishing in 5th position in the LV65 category. Tom Hill, Allie Quinn and Louise Hamilton-Smith ran together, with Allie excited at achieving a new personal best time by over five minutes. Their respective times were 2:08:21; 2:08:26 and 2:08:27.
Dursley Dozen - 16th February 2025
Meanwhile, on the same day, Kevin Goodwill and Rebecca Townsend ventured to Dursley for the Dursley Dozen, a demanding 12 mile race that is run mainly off-road race with climbs totalling more than 2000 feet. The intrepid pair battled through the woods and up the muddy hills, with Kevin achieving a time of one hour, 55 minutes and 37 seconds, while Rebecca was 4th senior woman in 1:56:23. At the finish they were rewarded by cake!
Caerphilly Trail 10k - 16th February 2025
Another member who also enjoys a tough off-road event is Jaq Underwood, who ran in the Caerphilly Trail 10k, working over the hills, mud and water, with a few stiles thrown-in for good measure. Jaq completed the fun 6.2 mile race is one hour, 19 minutes and 18 seconds.
Gloucestershire Cross Country League - 15th February 2025
The day before at Pittville Park Cheltenham, Gloucestershire AAA were holding the fourth event of this season’s Gloucestershire Cross Country League. Bourton were represented by Rebecca Townsend and Gill Carrick, running a 6Km route around the park, incorporating a dash through an icy water section that claimed several runners. Rebecca finished in 33 minutes and 45 seconds in a highly competitive field, while Gill achieved 3rd LV65 in a time of 42:47.
Also competing was Steph Lane, representing her first-claim club Cheltenham & County Harriers, who finished 4th senior lady (29:22) and Kevin Goodwill (also representing Cheltenham) ran in the 10K men's race, finishing in 45:34.
Parkrun - 15h February 2025
No weekend would be complete without parkrun, and Bourton Roadrunners could be found taking part at:

Valentines, Nr. Barking, London: Jaq Underwood - 27:11, Susan Hunt - 27:19.
