Ilmington 10k, Warwickshire - 19th January 2025
This weekend saw Bourton Roadrunners out in force, with several members heading to Ilmington, Warwickshire, for the first race within the club’s competition series, taking on the tough Ilmington 10k.
First to finish for Bourton was 18 year-old Dougal Hamilton-Smith, achieving a fine 43 minutes and 20 seconds. He was also pleased to finish in 18th position overall, just a hair’s-breadth ahead of his father Craig, who was first in the MV55 category in a time of 43:21. Despite this course being known for its tough and teasing climbs, next to finish for Bourton was Rebecca Townsend, who achieved a new personal best time of 44:38 and was 3rd senior woman.
Other members of the Bourton team were Tim Henning – 47:32, Steve Howell - 52:20 and first MV65, Ian Tolfts – 53:18, Barry O’Leary – 55:56, Basia Legierska – 56:10, Gilly Howell – 57:02, John Harding – 57:19 and third MV65, Graham Lane – 58:37, Gill Carrick – 60:44 and second LV65, Claire Blackie 60:49, Liz Hulcup – 61:27 and 3rd LV65, Noelle Morgan – 62:10, and Lee Smith 63:54.

Linda Franks 5 - 19th January 2025
Meanwhile, on the same day Almost Athletes Club were hosting their annual Linda Franks 5 mile race, where Bourton’s Alex Pye delivered a new personal best time of 28 minutes and 19 minutes. Veteran runner Darren Long had a strong race, finishing in 30:41 (MV50/3).
Other Bourton runners were Maxine Emes – 36:12, Claire Cox – 37:19, Lisa Braid – 37:53, Susan Hunt – 39:40, and Imogen Cox – 54:07.
Second-claim member Steph Lane, who was representing Cheltenham & County Harriers, had a brilliant race, achieving first woman finisher overall in an excellent time of 29 minutes and 12 seconds.
Parkrun - 18th January 2025
No weekend would be complete without parkrun, and Bourton Roadrunners could be found taking part at the following venues:

Stratford-upon-Avon: George Swayne - 19:03 (SM18/1), Susan Hunt - 26:55.
