Banbury 15 - 23rd March 2025
Bourton Roadrunners had a sizeable team out on Sunday morning for the challenging Banbury 15 mile road race. The event had been selected as the third event for this year’s Bourton club competition series, with several members providing shining performances and reaping the rewards from their hard training.
Bourton’s first finisher was Peter Carrick, who made light-work of the hills, completing the 15 miles in a time of one hour, 44 minutes and 22 seconds. In-form Eva Shoemark won the prize for second senior lady, in 1:46:46, setting her up nicely for the Manchester Marathon in April. She was followed by Rebecca Townsend in 1:51:27, setting a new personal best time by 6 minutes and 56 seconds.
There were also fine performances from Claire Cox (2:07:08), Steven Howell (2:08:28), Pat Gill (2:09:54), Iain Cox (2:15:59), Gillian Howell, who won the prize for second lady in the F55 category (2:18:09), Lee Smith (2:41:38), and Noelle Morgan and Allie Quinn, who finished together (2:51:53). In addition to the really good sporting atmosphere, runners commented that it was pleasing to see the faster club members cheering in the less speedy ones as they finished.
Fission 20 - 23rd March 2025
On the same day Kevin Goodwill, who is training for the Newport and London Marathons in April, opted for the Fission 20 mile race, at Dursley in Gloucestershire. Kevin was pleased to maintain a strong pace, finishing in two hours, 24 minutes and 41 seconds, inside his target marathon pace.
Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon - 23rd March 2025
Also racing this weekend were Susan Hunt and Linda Edwards, who tackled the Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon. A trail run over a measured 13.1 course with lots of weaving and some tricky trail sections. Susan achieved one hour, 58 minutes and 39 seconds, while Linda worked hard and finished in 2:19:13.
Colerain Campus 5K - 23rd
Meanwhile, Annie ventured to Coleraine, Northern Ireland, where she ran in the Springwell Colerain Campus 5K. Hosted by Ulster University, the race comprised three phased starts, and Annie had a strong race finishing in 33 minutes and 13 seconds.
Parkrun - 22nd March 2025

Highlights
There were prizes for Eva and Gilly at Banbury 15, while Rebecca knocked almost 7 minutes off her PB there too.
