Dormouse Challenge - Friday 21st November 2025

On Friday, Bourton Roadrunners’ Lorna Shawcross travelled to Salcey Forest, Northamptonshire, for the Big Bear Dormouse Challenge, taking on a full marathon along woodland paths. Despite the freezing conditions, Lorna made good progress, running non-stop for the first 20 miles, followed by run-jogging for the latter miles.

Like many off-road marathons, the distance covered was slightly longer than the road marathon counter-part, but Lorna thoroughly enjoyed the event finishing in a time of five hours, 21 minutes and 17 seconds. And she was pleased to support the ‘plant a tree’ option in place of a finisher’s medal.
