Alcester 10k - 5th October 2025
As this year’s road-race season nears its end, Bourton Roadrunners were out in force this weekend at Alcester 10k, Warwickshire, looking for crucial club racing points, with some chasing personal best targets.
It was 19 year old Dougal Hamilton-Smith that led the club home this weekend in a time 41 minutes and 29 seconds, hotly chased throughout by Kevin Goodwill (41:43) and Tim Hemming (41:47). Kevin was still recovering from the Bourton Half Marathon the previous week, while Vet-50 Tim smashed over a minute from his previous PB. Bourton’s first woman to finish was Rebecca Townsend, who had also run Bourton Half last week, finished in a time of 43:47. Veteran Ian Tolfts also had a strong run and was also rewarded with a new PB of 46:54.
Other Bourton Roadrunners were Graham Lane (51:43 and 3rd V70), Claire Blackie (53:44), John Harding (56:31), David Rees (58:51), Lee Smith (60:00), Sharon Rees (72:12), Val McKay (73:05), Lynn Hudson (73:18) and Imogen Cox (73:19).
Chester Marathon - 5th October 2025
On the same day marathon veterans Craig Colwyn and Claire Cox travelled to Cheshire for the Chester Marathon, joining some 5000 other participants. Both gave strong performances, maintaining consistent pacing throughout the 26.2 mile course. Craig was particularly pleased with his 3 hours, 12 minutes and 21 seconds, moving ever closer to that sub three-hour goal. Meanwhile Claire, who is no stranger to the marathon circuit, had a brilliant run finishing in 3:41:35.
Cardiff Half Marathon - 5th October 2025
Jaq Underwood was the club’s sole representative at the Cardiff Half Marathon, joining a field of just shy of 25000. Veteran Jaq had a splendid run, completing the 13.1 mile course in one hour, 45 minutes and 29 seconds. It is hotly-tipped that this event is heading towards a ballot-style entry system like a number of other popular city races.
Parkrun - 4th October 2025
Despite the high-winds experienced by much of the country on Saturday, many parkrun events were still able to go ahead, and Bourton Roadrunners
could be found at the following venues:
Aberdare, Wales: Jaq Underwood - 23:55 (VW55/1 and 3rd female overall).
