Fairford 10k - 8th June 2025

Bourton Roadrunners Stephanie Lane was back to racing-form this weekend, finishing first woman at the Fairford 10k, in a time of 39 minutes and 8 seconds.

Cheltenham Running Festival - 8th June 2025

Cheltenham was also holding the Cheltenham Running Festival, with various distances on offer. Allie Quinn, who is in training for the Berlin Marathon, opted for the 10K race, finishing first in the Lady Vet-55 category in 60 minutes and 21 seconds. Allie was joined by her son-in-law Ashley (39:53), while her granddaughter Ava ran in the Junior Fun Run.

Strathearn Marathon - 8th June 2025

Well-travelled Susan Hunt was busy adding to her ever-increasing marathon tally at the Strathearn Marathon, held in the beautiful countryside of Perthshire. Widely regarded as the friendliest Scottish marathon, this event holds a special meaning for Susan.

The race takes place over the same hills her late mother used to train and race over, and the host club still presents a trophy in her memory. Susan kept her emotions in-check to complete the 42.2Km race in a time of four hours, 24 minutes and 17 seconds, finishing second woman in the Vet 60 category.

Comrades Marathon - 8th June 2025

Also running further-afield was Craig Hamilton-Smith who travelled to South Africa to the face the Comrades Marathon, now in its 98th year. Despite being called a marathon, it is in fact an Ultra race, covering 90Km between Pietermaritzburg to the Moses Mabhida stadium, Durban.

It is regarded as one of the toughest races in the world, requiring special training and preparation. Facing many challenges, not least the strict time-limit cut-off points, Craig provided a brilliant display of resilience to finish in a time of 9 hours, 26 minutes and 44 seconds.
