Peak Rail 7 - Monday 6th April 2026

Normally when the week starts with one chasing after the train it spells bad news. However, for Bourton Roadrunner Michela Sartori it couldn’t have been more fun. On Monday morning, while many were still contemplating their remaining Easter eggs, Michela was looking to beat the steam hauled heritage rail service between Rowsley South and Matlock Riverside and back, at the Peak Rail 7.

Caught behind a group of local regulars, Michela was just pipped by the 80-year old train, David Earl, which completed the route in 55 minutes and 20.1 seconds while Michela took 57 minutes and 8.2 seconds! Meanwhile, Michela's partner Richard expressed his satisfaction having let the train take the strain and was reliving his childhood!

Berkeley 10K - Sunday 12th April 2026

Nearer to home, Bourton's Steph Lane fancied a regular 10Km road race and took part in the Berkeley 10K, comfortably finishing first woman in a time 37 minutes and 57 seconds, ahead of CLC Strider's Helen Knight who was second woman in 41:06.

Tewkesbury Half Marathon and 10K - Sunday 12th April 2026

Bourton Roadrunners were also mixing it amongst the field at Tewkesbury Half Marathon and 10K. In the 10Km event in-form Niamh Shoemark gave another fine performance, achieving 42 minutes and 32 seconds, finishing second in the female vet-55 category and 25th overall from a field of more than 400 runners. Joining her was Lisa Braid, who also impressed with a strong run in 48:30 and winning the female vet-40 category.

Meanwhile, in the half marathon it was Jemma Franzmann who had the edge, completing the 21.1 Km course in two hours, five minutes and 50 seconds to earn herself a new PB. She was joined by Claire Carroll who put in a Trojan effort to achieve 2:09:11

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge - Sunday 12th April 2026

Further afield, Bourton’s Steph Holton fancied the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, supported by her Friend Catherine and husband Gary. Covering more than 26 miles with 5571 feet of elevation in freezing conditions it pushed the trio to the limit. Fully prepared and equipped, Steph said “Scrambling down the side of the last peak was quite scary in the high winds and snow but we did it!”. Congratulations to them.
