Mallard Challenge - Thursday 16th April 2026

It was Bourton Roadrunners’ Lorna Shawcross, one the club's training leaders, who got the week off to a flying start on Thursday, when she took part in the Mallard Challenge at Kingsbury Water Park, near Sutton Coldfield.

The event which was supporting the “Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity” comprised 5Km loops over a multi-terrain route around the water park, within a six hour time limit, under the watchful eyes of the plethora of wildfowl. Lorna had a brilliant run, finishing first female and 8th overall, in a time of six hours, four minutes and six seconds.

Stratford Triathlon - Sunday 19th April 2026

On Sunday Graham Lane and Megan Ratcliffe headed off to Warwickshire for the Stratford Triathlon, with both taking part in the Sprint category, comprising a 400 metre swim, an 18Km cycle ride and a 5Km run.

Competing along with over 170 other women, Megan completed the challenge finishing second within her age group with a strong performance of one hour, 16 minutes and 39 seconds. Meanwhile, Graham took part in the open category with over 380 participants, finishing third in his age group in an equally impressive time of 1:19:47.

Annecy Half Marathon - Sunday 19th April 2026

As part of her 60th birthday celebration, Bourton Roadrunners’ Jaq Underwood travelled to Haute-Savoie in France, where she ran in the Annecy Half Marathon.

Located in the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region and running between the lake and the mountains, Jaq was stunned by the beauty of the 21.1Km course, which she completed in one hour and 47 minutes.

Bristol Track Club 5K - Sunday 19th April 2026

Meanwhile, Bourton’s Rebecca Townsend took part in the Bristol Track Club 5Km, in Bath. Rebecca, who was representing Cheltenham Harriers, had a scorcher of a run. Completing the four-lap course, which was held on a cycle track and incorporated a teasing climb, She achieved 20 minutes and 39 seconds in windy conditions, earning herself a well-deserved PB.

Parkrun - Saturday 18th April 2026

No weekend would been complete without a Parkrun, and this weekend Bourton Roadrunners could be found at the following venues:

Kilkenny Lane Country: Stephanie Lane – 18:26 (1st woman and 3rd overall).
Victoria Park, Newbury: Kieran Vallance – 25:21.
Warwick Racecourse: Susan Hunt – 27:51.
Witney: Ian Tolfts – 23:34 (VM60/2), Lisa Braid – 23:52 (VW40/1), Lee Hutton – 26:40 (VM70/1), Michael Balfour – 27:00, Claire Louise Carroll – 27:49 (VW60/1), Graham Lane – 28:09 (VM70/2), Louise Colwyn – 32:42, Lindsey Mayled – 36:52, Jenny Evanson – 37:08, Liz Hulcup – 47:16 (VW70/2).

Gazza’s to Bazza’s Social Run - Sunday 19th April 2026

For those who were not racing this weekend, there was an organised social run between Upper Rissington and Lower Swell, covering an undulating ten mile rural route, with shorter options built in for those who wanted, and it attracted 50 club members with the promise of refreshments at Lower Swell village hall afterwards!

Highlights

This week Bourton Roadrunners were in action at the Mallard Challenge, Stratford Triathlon, Annecy Half Marathon, Bristol Track Club 5K, and Parkrun.

Lots to celebrate this week. Congratulations to Lorna for finishing 1st woman at Mallard Challenge, to Steph Lane for 1st woman at Kilkenny Lane Parkrun, and to Rebecca for a nifty 5Km at the Bristol Track Club earning her new PB.

Thanks to Gary, Steph, Barry and their team of helpers who made the Gazza’s to Bazza’s social run another success.
