European Transplant Games - Wednesday 24th June 2026
The recent bout of hot weather has brought with it many challenges for sporting activities, disrupting a number of races and many training sessions. And it had a significant impact on this year’s European Transplant Games, hosted by Arnhem in The Netherlands last week, leading to a number of events being postponed or cancelled.
However, the 5Km mini-marathon road race was able to go ahead safely, with Bourton Roadrunners’ Lee Hutton in the lineup. In-form Lee, having progressed to a new age-category this year, gave a fine performance amongst a field of 89 runners, where he earned the coveted gold medal in the veteran male 70 category, finishing in a time of 25 minutes and 23 seconds in challenging conditions.
Tenby Marathon - Sunday 28th June 2026
With weather conditions having eased somewhat this weekend, the Tenby Marathon was able to proceed, taking in the Pembrokeshire countryside and coastline. However, despite the prettiness, no marathon is without its challenges and the Tenby course is demanding in places.
Bourton Roadrunners’ Jaq Underwood, who was supporting a friend over this 26.2 mile race, finished in a respectable 4 hours, 17 minutes and 41 seconds, with Jaq earning third-place in the FV60 category.
Gloucester 10K - Sunday 28th June 2026
Another race that was able to go ahead this weekend was the Gloucester 10K, which supports local charities. Joining the field of more than 800 runners were Bourton’s Val McKay and Imogen Cox.
Taking in the cathedral, quays, canal and docks, the pair soon put the miles behind them and were finishing together with Val achieving 72 minutes and 47 seconds and Imogen 72:50.
Parkrun - Saturday 27th June 2026
Of course, no weekend would been complete without a Parkrun, and this week Bourton Roadrunners could be found at the following venues:

Highlights
This week Bourton Roadrunners were in action at the European Transplant Games, Tenby Marathon, Gloucester 10K, and Parkrun
Special Congratulations go to Lee Hutton for achieving gold in the MV70 category in the 5Km mini-marathon at the European Transplant Games in Arnhem.
Congratulations also go to Steph Lane, finishing first overall at the Fire Service College Parkrun. Also to Jaq Underwood for being first woman at Merthyr Tydfil Parkrun.
