Chilly ‘Draft-Legal’ Duathlon - Sunday 8th March 2026
This weekend Bourton Roadrunners’ Darren Long travelled to Castle Coombe in Wiltshire for the Chilly ‘Draft-Legal&rs Duathlon, which took place at the famous Castle Coombe race circuit.
This three-discipline event, comprised a 5Km run, a seven-lap 20Km bike ride, and finished with a 3Km run. Darren completed this demanding challenge with a strong performance in a time of one hour, 10 minutes and 35.8 seconds.
Kettering Half Marathon - Sunday 8th March 2026
Meanwhile, Claire Carroll and John Gibson ventured to Northamptonshire for the Kettering Half Marathon. Run mainly over a combination of attractive parkland and country lanes, this event was boosted by friendly support over the entire undulating 21.1Km course.
Claire led the duo home in a time of two hours, four minutes and 15 seconds, finishing first in the VW60 category. John in his first race for six months, ran chatting with a friend, was satisfied with his time of 2:13:06.
Lisbon Half Marathon - Sunday 8th March 2026
Bourton’s young talent Rebecca Townsend travelled further afield to Portugal for the Lisbon Half Marathon. Returning from injury, Rebecca played it cautiously, yet still managed a very respectable time of one hour, 42 minutes and 57 seconds for the 21.1Km distance.
At the same event is was of course Ugandan athlete Jacob Kiplimo who stole the attention, braking the half marathon world record with a stunning time of 57:20.
Chippenham Spring 10 - Sunday 8th March 2026
Linda Edwards opted for the Chippenham Spring 10, which is run predominately over quiet country roads, starting and finishing in Chippenham High Street. Linda completed the 10 miles in a time of one hour, 36 minutes and 11 seconds, and could be seen proudly wearing her finishers’ medal afterwards.
Parkrun - Saturday 7th March 2026
No weekend would be complete without a Park Run , and this weekend Bourton Roadrunners could be found out supporting this
brilliant initiative at the following venues:

Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh: Claire Louise Carroll – 29:05 (VW60/1), Gill Carrick – 30:55 (VW65/1 and 50th Parkrun).
King George V Playing Field, Cheltenham: Chris Dry – 27:34 (VM60/3).
Poolbeg, Dublin: Jaq Underwood – 24:16.
Tetbury Goods Shed: Linda Edwards – 35:33.
Woden Town, Australia: Megan Ratcliffe - 26:23 (VW55/1), Alex Wilson – 35:16.

Highlights
This week Bourton Roadrunners were in action at the Chilly ‘Draft-Legal’ Duathlon, Kettering Half Marathon, Lisbon Half Marathon, Chippenham Spring 10, and Parkrun.
A group from the club also took part in a social run at Oddington, before joining locals afterwards at Oddington village hall for their monthly breakfast event.
