Bristol Half Marathon – 15th September 2019
On a very warm, autumnal morning, 3 Bourton Roadrunners travelled to Bristol to compete in the annual half marathon.
First to finish was Nick Harper in 2:16:11 followed by Allie Quinn (2:23:54), with Donna Harper bringing home the trio (2:42:37); this after taking a tumble on the course. All three runners were pleased to finish, all having recently recovered from injuries.
Worcester City 10k – 15th September 2019
Cathryn Nesbitt was the only Bourton representative to take part in the Worcester City 10k. In very warm conditions Cathryn, mother of international athletics star Jenny, did well to complete the course in 58:12 - 10th from 87 in her LV55 age category and well inside the top half of the field.
Hullavington 10k – 15th September 2019
On an undulating course, Linda Edwards (2nd claim member) finished in 54:07, continuing with her preparation for Berlin Marathon.
Arden Heart of England Forest Marathon – 14th September 2019
This walk/run trail marathon started and finished at Henley-in-Arden. The entry fee included breakfast, buffets at 6 of the checkpoints and a hot meal plus a pudding afterwards!
Susan Hunt, a seasoned marathon runner completed the gruelling course in 5:36:17. All the profits from the race are going to planting 2 trees per runner in a named location so the competitor can go and check on them in future years.
The London Duathlon – 8th September 2019
Darren Long took part in his first duathlon which was held in Richmond Park. Darren completed the run/bike/run event in 2 hours 22:06, finishing 54th in a field of 1400 competitors and 3rd MV45 out of 173.
His times were: 10k run – 38:04; 44k bike ride – 1:20:12 and finally a 5k run in 19:34.
Chippenham Half Marathon – 8th September 2019
A predominately flat course, Chippenham half marathon was well organised, well supported and well marshalled and a jelly baby heaven!
Steph Holton was the only Bourton Roadrunner to take part and the race was part of her preparation for Chicago Marathon. Steph finished in 1:47:05 and was 3rd LV55.
