Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire -

Tewkesbury Guy Fawkes 5 – 3rd November 2019

Despite recent flooding in the Tewkesbury area, foresight and planning by race organiser Tewkesbury Running Club, this blue-ribbon event went ahead, with a fully certificated alternative country lane route, to complete the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race series. As always the race was full within a few hours of opening and included 14 members of Bourton Roadrunners Club.

First home for Bourton was the in-form Darren Long in a new PB of 28:50 and 1st MV45. Darren finishes the county series as 1st in his age group and 2nd overall, having beaten Gloucester’s Jeremy Mover.

Ian Tolfts and Tom Hill were having their own battle throughout the race, with Ian (38:56) just pipping Tom (38:59) on the line. Susan Hunt was close behind with a SB of 39:39 and securing her county gold for the LV50 age category.

Next to finish was Liz Hulcup in 40:15, also a SB, and 1st LV65 and the county gold medal. Bourton ladies Allie Quinn (47:31), Shirley Creed (47:37) and Lynn Hudson (47:48) had run together until the final sprint finish. Janice Townsend (48:41) and Gillian James (48:51) were running their first 5 mile race.

John Gibson ran with his daughter, Michelle Cook, also her first 5 mile race (53:40). Jo Cooper (58:56) was pleased complete in under the hour and Coral Feenan-Hill (62:04) was seen smiling all the round!
