In a week that saw Bourton Roadrunners Club celebrate its 40th anniversary and saluted its Ultra distance runner Neil Russell pass through Bourton on his epic journey of running John O’Groats to Land’s End, there were a number of running events that featured its other runners.
Bugatti 10k - 11th August 2021
This popular 10k was the fourth race in the Gloucestershire Road Race series. The course started with a sharp descent followed by an equally sharp incline. The first third of the course was undulating, followed by a flat middle section then undulating again before the uphill kilometre.
Bourton Roadrunners fielded 4 runners. First in 13th position, Darren Long in 40:21 with Gill Carrick 54:31, Ian Macpherson 61:31 and Annie Oliver 67:06.
Cranham Boundary Chase - 6th August 2021
This was the third race of the Gloucestershire County Road Race series and Gill Carrick was Bourton Roadrunners’ sole representative. The course was on undulating roads through beech woods and the pretty villages of Sheepscombe and Cranham, ending with a sharp rise up to the finish on the cricket field. All finishers were rewarded with venison rolls. Gill finished in 52:29 and 3rd LV60.
