Haresfield 5k - 17th August 2022
Bourton Roadrunners fielded five members for the annual Haresfield 5k road race, near Stroud. This event, which forms part of the Gloucestershire Road Race Series and the County Championships, was held on a Wednesday evening in almost perfect conditions.
First to finish for the club was Darren Long, who was slightly disappointed with his time of 19:03, but was rewarded with 2nd MV50 and awarded a silver county medal. In-form Maxine Emes was next to finish in a time of 21:51, 3rd LV40 and receiving a bronze county medal.
Liz Hulcup and Tony Goodwill were pushing each other with Liz just coming out on top, having her best 5k run since 2015, finishing in 24:57, 1st LV65 and winning the gold county medal. Tony finished close on her heels in 25:07; a great run considering he hasn't raced for quite a few years. Gill Carrick completed the quintet in 27:03, 4th in her age group in a respectable 27:03.
Cotswold Lake 62 Swim - 21st August 2022
Over recent months a number of club members have extended their range of activities undertaken, notable cycling and open-water swimming events. This weekend the club’s chairman Chris Dry, a former triathlete, made a welcome return to a swimming event at South Cerney, with the Cotswold Lake 62 Swim, opting for the 10k Olympic distance. Chris completed the distance in a creditable 3 hours, 37 minutes and 52 seconds. I think that we will be seeing more of Chris in such events.
Stratford Summer 6 - 20th August 2022
Second claim member Susan Hunt ran in the Stratford Summer 6 on Saturday evening, having also achieved a PB at the Cirencester parkrun that morning. Susan tackled the undulating course, which finished at Mary Arden’s Farm in Wilmcote, Wiltshire. She finished 2nd LV55 in swift time of 48:03.

Highlights
Liz Hulcup, Gill Carrick, Maxine Emes, Darren Long and Tony Goodwill represented the club in the County 5k chapionships at Haresfield.
Darren, Maxine and Liz won County Championship medals at Haresfield 5k.
Chris Dry returned to South Cerney lakes, for the Cotswold Lake 62 10k Swim.
Susan Hunt was 2nd LV55 at the Stratford Summer 6 miles.
