Cromhall parkrun - 14th January 2023

Following Bourton Roadrunners’ earlier visit to the Cromhall parkrun, held within the grounds of HMP Leyhill, last November, the club was excited to be granted permission to visit again this weekend. Anticipating a wet run after several hour’s of torrential rain, the eight club members were rewarded with a break in the inclement weather throughout their visit.

Bourton’s in-form Barry O’Leary was the first club member to finish, in a brilliant time of 23 minutes and thirty-three seconds and third overall, giving the two runners in front strong competition. Next to finish was Liz Hulcup, who completed her 60th parkrun, achieving a stunning performance of 24:44 (giving her an age-related ranking of 90% against park runners everywhere).

Claire Carroll showed several of the men how to tackle the 5Km distance with her 25:39. Allie Quinn continues to improve her times at each event, maintaining an even-pace throughout the run, achieving 28:33 and pipping John Gibson on the line, who finished in 28:34. Ali Tighe, Lynn Hudson and Gillian James were a hairs-breadth apart all the way round, finishing in 31:17, 31:21 and 31:22 respectively.

Our hosts endorsed their welcome with post-run tea, coffee and biscuits, supplemented by cake that disappeared without trace.

Other parkruns

Meanwhile, club members were supporting parkrun events at a number of other venues, including:

University Parks: Steph Holton – 25:56 (LV55/1) and Gary Holton – 28:10.
