Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire -

Linda Franks 5 - 22nd January 2023

On a very sharp winter’s morning it was pleasing to see so many local running clubs fielding teams for the Linda Franks 5 mile race; the first event of this year’s Gloucestershire AAA Road Race Series, hosted by Almost Athletes in Cheltenham. This has been a firm favourite for Bourton Roadrunners for many years, inspiring runners of all abilities.

Farnborough Half Marathon - 22nd January 2023

Meanwhile, Bourton’s Darren Long and Maxine Emes were checking-out their fitness at the early-season Farnborough Half Marathon; a traffic-free run that started under the historic Airship Hanger alongside Farnborough Airport.

They both showed that they had not lost their fitness over the Christmas break, with 50 year old Darren achieving a stunning one-hour, 22 minutes and one second. Maxine also had a brilliant run finishing in 1:38:11; well under the bench-mark of one hour-forty.
