Welcome to Bourton Roadrunners Website

Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire -

Pound the Pound, North Devon - 25th March 2023

With several distances and terrains to choose between, this weekend provided Bourton Roadrunners many options, including 4.3Km laps of the Wistlandpound Reservoir, North Devon, at an event called Pound the Pound. This was a trail ultra-event, with a six hour time limit to achieve as many laps as possible, with runners “dipping in and out” during that period.

Gary Holton, returning from a month-long injury, navigated the thick muddy sections and the tree roots, to complete 5-laps in a time of two hours and 59 minutes. Meanwhile, his wife Steph ploughed on to run an amazing 33 miles, finishing 12th overall.

Lightning Bolt 10k - 26th March 2023

For Darren Long, returning home from GB internal duties in Italy last week, the contrast couldn’t have been greater. Still buzzing from the experience he took part in a bare-bones Lightning Bolt 10k at Langley Burrell, Wiltshire. Darren finished in 38:35 and 3rd MV50.

Cotswold Classic Duathlon - 26th March 2023

Also up for a new challenge was Graham Lane, who took part in the Cotswold Classic Duathlon, held at Notgrove Estate. Graham completed the first 5Km run in 29:53, followed by a 22Km cycle in 51:38, and completing the second 5Km run in 32:45.

At the same location was junior Lucy Hillary running in the Future Challengers one mile, achieving 5:55 and securing 2nd FU15.

Wolverhampton 10k - 26th March 2023

Linda Edwards favoured the Wolverhampton 10k, run over a closed-roads course that started and finished at the Molineux Stadium, providing her husband an opportunity to enjoy his beloved Wolves’ home-ground during the 63 minutes and 2 seconds available to him.

Parkruns - 25th March 2023

As usual, Bourton Roadrunners were present at a number of parkrun events the previous day, including:

Cheltenham Pittville Park: Parkrun is always guaranteed to draw a crowd, providing an opportunity for community running. This weekend saw Cheltenham Pittville Park host a “5k Your Way” event, with Bourton members meeting up with the charity to learn about its brilliant work. Club Chair, Chris Dry, was also celebrating his 300th parkrun; an amazing achievement. This he did by running with club mates Giles Canning and Gill Carrick, taking turns to push one-year-old Rowan in her pushchair while she enjoyed her morning nap.
