Stroud Beer Race - 31st May 2023

Four runners from Bourton Roadrunners Club took part in the Stroud Beer Race at Minchinhampton, last Wednesday evening, which was part of the Gloucestershire Road Race series.

Noted for its undulating three-lap course around Minchinhampton Common, Darren Long was the first club member to complete the 7.2 miles in 46 minutes and 56 seconds, finishing 2nd MV50. Next was Maxine Emes in 55:55, who was 1st LV40. Gillian Carrick and Liz Hulcup tracked each other all the way round, with Gillian (67:32) just pipping Liz (67:35) at the end, with Liz gaining 2nd LV70.

OMM Trail Race, Lake District - 3rd June 2023

Meanwhile, Gary and Steph Holton, together with Rebecca Townsend and Catherine Wheeler, took part in the challenging OMM trail race event, taking in the fells around Grasmere in the Lake District National Park.

This event not only tests participants’ stamina, but their ability to navigate and utilise their Nordic walking skills. Gary finished 30th; while Steph, Rebecca and Catherine finished 34th.

Feet Over Front Street 5k - 3rd June 2023

Further afield, Andre Martins took part in the Feet Over Front Street series, in Provincetown, Massachusetts, USA. Andre completed the 5Km distance in a very respectable 23 minutes and 10 seconds, finishing 16th overall.

Chipping Norton: Dougal Hamilton-Smith – 22:11 (1st JM15-17), David Rees – 24:03 (1st MV55), Lorna Shawcross – 25:44 (1st LV60), Sahron Rees 31:19 (2nd LV55 and PB), Jenny Evanson – 24:36 (3rd LV55 and PB), Louise Hamilton Smith (running with her daughter, Celia) – 35:58.
Plock Court, Gloucester: Tony Goodwill – 25:16 (1st MV65).
Cheltenham Pittville Park: Chris Dry – 27:04.
Blaise Castle, Bristol: Susan Hunt – 26:28 (1st LV55).

Highlights

Darren, Maxine, Gill and Liz took-on the Stroud Beer Race mid-week, gaining valuable County Series points.

Gary and Steph Holton were joined by Rebecca and Catherine at the OMM Trail event in the Lake District National Park.

Congratulations go to Andre for his brilliant performance a 5k event while he was in Provincetown, Massachusetts, USA, finishing 16th overall.

This week’s parkruns included Burgess Hill; Navan, Ireland; Wolford Wood; Chipping Norton; Plock Court; Pittville Park; and Blaise Castle, Bristol.
