Greystones 10k - 9th July 2023
Greystones Farm Bourton on the Water, with its ancient meadows and the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust’s nature reserve, was the host on Sunday to the Greystones 10k. Organised by the North Cotswold Rotary, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and Brio Retirement Living, the route was a mixture of trail and quiet country roads. Bourton Roadrunners had seven runners taking part, with few others supporting the organisers with various aspects of the event.
Rebecca Townsend, also celebrating her birthday, completed the course in 50 minutes and 10 seconds, finishing 3rd senior woman. She was followed by in-form Tom Hill in 53:32 with Chris Dry close on his heels in 54:39. Running together were Samantha Mellor and Tom Knight, establishing a consistent pace and making good progress with the challenging terrain, finishing in 69:25 and 69:27 respectively. Tom also achieved 3rd MV65. Jeanette Brew, running with a work colleague, was in good spirits completing the 10k in 77:24, closely followed by Coral Feenan-Hill in 78:37. Coral was also 3rd LV60.
Evesham 10k - 9th June 2023
Meanwhile on the same day, Bourton’s Andy Peaston ran in the Evesham 10k, organised by Evesham Vale Running Club. Following an interesting route around the streets, parks and riverside paths of historic Evesham, Andy finished in a respectable 50 minutes and 20 seconds.
Parkruns - 3rd June 2023
On Saturday, parkrun was celebrating the 75th anniversary of the NHS, and Bourton Roadrunners were keen to be in on the action at the following venues:
Hafan Pwllheli: Dougal Hamilton-Smith – 23:52 (2nd Junior Man 15-17), Louise Hamilton-Smith – 37:01 (3rd LV40).
Cheltenham Pittville Park: Chris Dry – 27:09.
Chipping Norton: Jenny Evanson – 35:49.
Wolford Wood: Lorna Shawcross – 27:21 (1st LV60).
Seaford Beach: Pam Robb – 34:49.
Ludlow: Susan Hunt – 28:31 (1st LV55).
