Parkruns - 9th November 2024
Everyone that takes part in parkrun has their own reason, whether it’s to get a new personal best time or to gain that joyful experience of social running with friends and strangers alike. Some participants like to support their local event while others seek-out a new one while on holiday or visiting friends and relatives, near and far. This weekend Bourton Roadrunners certainly managed to cover all of those reasons and more.
Lee Hutton and his wife Claire travelled to Oxford to join a group from the charity Transplant Sport. Dr Paul Harden from the Churchill Hospital Oxford, and chair of the charity, was joined by several transplant patients, staff from the hospital and supporters, promoting the benefits of organ donation and the life-changing benefits of transplantation.
Lee himself the recipient of a live donation, from his wife, is a great example of this having won four medals at this year’s British Transplant Games, and is proud to have been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Transplant Games in Dresden, Germany, next August. Also, Oxford will be hosting next year’s British Transplant Games, at the end of July 2025.
