Paris Half Marathon - 3rd March 2024
Just a few days following last weekend’s Bourton 10k, a group of seven Bourton Roadrunners headed off to France this weekend, for the Paris Half Marathon and a hard-earned break. Joining a field of over 47000 others runners, the club was led home by Louise Hamilton-Smith and Jaq Underwood, who ran together at a perfectly even-pace for the 13.1 miles. Louise achieved a new PB of one hours, 58 minutes and 21 seconds, while Jaq was just one second behind in 1:58:22.
They were followed by Claire Carroll, thankfully back from injury (2:10:16); Allie Quinn, who in her Union Flag shorts, was cheered on all the way round by the crowds - “ALLEZ ALLIE” (2:20:42); Nicky Patterson, with a heavy on-going cold (2:45:48); Jenny Evanson, with tired legs but feeling good (2:55:02) and Val McKay in her first half marathon (2:58:48), despite having had a cold all week. All were pleased with their times, as the celebration photos demonstrate.
Tokyo Marathon - 3rd March 2024
While the Paris crew were still tucked-up in their beds, second-claim member Linda Edwards was lining up for the Tokyo Marathon, some eight hours ahead.
Linda, an experienced marathon runner, handled the humidity well to complete the 26.2 miles in a very respectable four hours, 53 minutes and 48 seconds.
Berkhamsted Half Marathon - 3rd March 2024
Nearer to home, John Harding represented the club at the Berkhamsted Half Marathon, where he had a strong run until he encountered the final hill, but still achieved two hours, four minutes and 41 seconds.
Chippenham 10 miles - 3rd March 2024
Meanwhile, the Chippenham 10 mile race provided the final training for three further Bourton Roadrunners preparing for next month’s Reading Half Marathon. They were Tom Knight (1:40:30), Imogen Cox (1:55:09) and Lynn Hudson (1:55:09), who also achieved 3rd LV65.
Parkrun events - 2nd March 2024

Cheltenham Pittville Park: Megan Ratcliffe – 26:17, Chris Dry – 28:25 and Catherine Price – 32:10.
Osterley: Susan Hunt – 26:55.
