Derby Ramathon - 30th June 2024
Bourton Roadrunners’ Danny Hannig has slashed a further three minutes from his half marathon personal best (PB) at the Derby Ramathon, completing the 13.1 mile race in one hour, 18 minutes and 15 seconds.
Finishing 28th from a field of talented runners that saw 38 participants achieve the magical sub-one hour twenty-minute target. Danny admitted afterwards that he struggled over the last two miles with heavy legs as the course included “a couple of cheeky climbs” at the finish.
Droitwich Half - 30th June 2024
Also opting for a half marathon was Susan Hunt who ran at the Droitwich Half, with its notorious hills, where she finished 7th female and first WV50, in a time of one hour and 56 minutes.
North Downs 30K - 30th June 2024
Meanwhile, Iain and Claire Cox travelled to the North Downs 30Km, which was celebrating its 40th anniversary.
They were met with a challenging multi-terrain course over undulating paths and established tracks, threading through woodlands, fields and parkland. However, Claire managed to find time for a larger at mile-10, before pressing on to complete the course in two hours, 47 minutes and 16 seconds. This was Iain’s longest race ever, and he was pleased with his time of 3:09:55.
Gloucester 10K - 30th June 2024
Ever-improving Imogen Cox decided to run nearer to home, selecting the Gloucester 10Km race, which boasted a field of over 800 runners, where running conditions were good. Despite the early start, a few sharp turns and narrow paths, there was great camaraderie among competitors and stunning views of the cathedral. Imogen was rewarded with a new PB of 63:34.
Cheltenham Race for Life 5K
Sharon Coventry is one of Bourton Roadrunners’ recent couch-to-5K graduates, who was joined by club stalwart Shirley Creed and one of Sharon’s work colleagues, David, at the Cheltenham Race for Life 5Km.
Despite there being so many participants, with many of them walking, the intrepid trio managed to weave and zig-zag their way around the course, with no-walking amongst the three. There was no official timing, but Sharon and her friends achieved a very respectable 43 minutes for the 3.1 mile event.
