Milton Keynes Marathon - 6th May 2024
Bourton Roadrunners’ Darren Long came so close to achieving another sub-three hour marathon at Milton Keynes on Bank Holiday Monday. The in-form vet-50 runner looked set to add a further success to his tally, but should still feel proud of his outstanding time of three hours and one minute.
Meanwhile, many eyes were focused on former club member and chairman, Steve Edwards, who was writing his name into the record books on completing his THOUSANTH full marathon and scooping a number of official world records along the way. Steve’s time was four hours, two minutes and 57 seconds.
Bluebell Bash Trail Half - 5th May 2024
John Harding tackled the Bluebell Bash this weekend, near Wimborne Minster in Dorset. Although a seasoned runner, this was John’s first trail half marathon, and was joined by his two brothers.
Like most trail run events, this one was about a quarter of a mile longer than the traditional 13.1 mile half marathon distance. Despite the runners encountering wetter and muddier than expected conditions, the trio enjoyed their outing and John was pleased with the two hours and twelve minutes achieved.
Malvern Hills Ultra - 4th May 2024
For some runners a mere marathon doesn’t present a sufficiently demanding challenge and they go looking for ultra-distance races. This weekend, experienced marathoner Claire Cox took part in the Malvern Hills Ultra, which offered distance options of 22, 30, 37 and 45 miles.
Opting for the 37 mile event, Claire battled not only the hills and mud but the self-navigational demands, to complete the race as second woman in a time of nine hours and forty-four minutes, collecting the much-coveted medal.
Parkrun events - 4th May 2024
No weekend would be complete without parkrun, which brings with it a myriad of reasons for running. Bourton Roadrunners were to be

Chipping Norton School: Alex Wilson – 27:30, David Turnbull – 31:49.
Harcourt Hill: Susan Hunt – 26:35.
