Cirencester Summer Sizzler 10k - 11th June 2025
Bourton Roadrunners were out in force this week, with 21 members travelling to Cirencester Park midweek for this year’s Cirencester Park Summer Sizzler 10k, part of the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race Series.
It was Stephanie Lane who claimed the honours, finishing first female in a time of 38 minutes and 11 seconds. Alex Pye was the club’s first male to finish, in a time of 37 minutes and 56 seconds. Also amongst the podium finishers was Niamh Shoemark, second in the FV55 category, with a time of 42:51.
Other Bourton finishers were Tim Carter 39:13, Darren Long 39:41 (MV50/3), Kevin Goodwill 40:14, Dougal Hamilton-Smith 40:24 (Personal Best), Rebecca Townsend 44:52, Maxine Emes 46:00, Iain Cox 47:47, Lisa Braid 48:24, Andy Peaston 48:40, Tony Goodwill 51:54, Gillian Howell 52:08, Graham Lane 53:13, Barry O'Leary 54:06, Claire Blackie 54:14, Allie Quinn 58:47, Janice Townsend 65:43, Imogen Cox 68:43 and Lynn Hudson 75:08.
Leamington Spa Half Marathon - 15th June 2025
Meanwhile, three club members took part in this weekend’s Leamington Spa Half Marathon, which proved to be hot and hilly. However, this didn’t appear to affect the performance of Danny Hannig who finished 14th overall in a fine time of one hour, 19 minutes and 31 seconds.
Danny was joined by Allie Quinn and Louise Hamilton-Smith, who ran together finishing in 2:20:52 and 2:20:53 respectively, all part of their Berlin Marathon preparations.
Blaydon Race - 9th June 2025
Earlier in the week, Linda Edwards had travelled back to her routes in Newcastle, to take part in the Blaydon Race from Newcastle to Blaydon.
Despite it being very wet and cold, 4500 runners took part on Monday evening, as a celebration of the North East’s running community, local culture and heritage, and based on the famous 1862 Gordie song ‘The Blaydon Races’; “‘Twas on the ninth of Joon” and all that. Linda completed the 5.8 mile route in a time of 57 minutes and 8 seconds.
Parkrun - 14th June 2025
No week would be complete without parkrun, and Bourton Roadrunners were out in support this weekend at the following venues:
