High Bridge Jewellers Bourton 10k – 26th February 2012
On a day of near perfect conditions many runners and their families enjoyed a fantastic day at the BOURTON 10km road race. The event was a huge success and well organised by race director Ian Shoemark and his team.
In a very competitive men’s race Jake Shelley held his composure to pull away over the final kilometre to record an impressive victory in a time of 31:47.
The ladies champion Alyson Dixon led from the start with a massive victory and brilliant time of 33:34.
Our home runners put in some fine performances to do us proud. Dennis Walmsley was particularly strong as 2nd vet 40 in 34:22, picking off a number of rivals in the final two kilometres. Tim Hemming continues a good start to the season with a great effort of 36:15.
Shona Crombie-Hicks came close to breaking her goal of sub 37 minutes with her best 10km in the past few years as 1st vet 35 in 37:16.
Lucy Walmsley can be pleased with 38:32 and 3rd vet 35 as she is well into her long mileage training for her next marathon. Beth Wynn off a strong showing in the cross country series showed her strength with an impressive PB and 1st junior lady in 41:58.
Other finishers for Bourton were consistent Rob Humphris in 43:28, new member with a great effort Claire Harrison in 44:53, ever improving David Hanson 45:14, Steph Holton as the star-of-the-day with a massive 2 minute PB in 46:16, Chris Dry happy to come in under 50-minutes in 49:17 and Steve Woodley 49:56, just ahead of Dad Rodger (running with John Gibson’s son Alan in his 1st 10k) in 50:38.
